Those gathered learned about the extensive variety of species found at Presque Isle State Park. An environmental specialist says many are easy to miss in a daytime visit to the peninsula.

“Because we have a lot of animals that are nocturnal like the flying squirrel, and the owls and the otters, they’re more active at nighttime. So these are things the average visitor may never encounter on a visit to Presque Isle but they are living there,” said Brian Gula, an environmental education specialist.
