The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch at 2:16 p.m. on Saturday valid from Sunday 4 p.m. until Monday 4 p.m. for Northern Erie and Southern Erie.
“Heavy lake effect snow possible. Total snow accumulations in excess of 6 inches possible within the most persistent lake effect snows,” can be anticipated according to the weather service. “The greatest snow rates are expected Sunday night into Monday morning, when rates can exceed one inch per hour at times within organized lake effect bands.”
“Travel could be difficult. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility, especially on Monday. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute,” explains the weather service. “Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation.”
