PennDOT continued to work on designs for the rehabilitation of two bridges on the most northern part of Interstate 79.
Two bridges, going both north and south over CSX and Norfolk Southern railroads near West 16th Street, will be renovated next year.

The bridges were built in 1983 and are considered to be in fair condition.
PennDOT said up to 10,000 vehicles cross the bridges a day and believes it’s important to strengthen them.

“It is a very busy bridge for us. That’s one of the reasons they’re doing the traffic plan the way it’s designed it now, to make sure traffic can continue to flow through there. There’s some complexities with that bridge involving its proximity to railroad tracks and other things like that, so even though it seems like a simple repair, it’s actually a rather large project for us to get through the design phase,” said Jill Harry, a press officer for PennDOT…
