( WJET/WFXP )– Drivers who routinely take Interstate 79 into and out of the City of Erie should expect delays in the coming days, with maintenance work set to start.
Crews will be out doing routine maintenance work on the bridges between West 12th Street and West 26th Street, carrying traffic over the CSX & Norfolk Southern railroads, Irwin Drive, Rudolph Avenue, and West 16th Street.

As long as the weather holds up, crews will be out between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. from May 6 to 15, with PennDOT adding that drivers should be ready for lane restrictions and closures near the bridge and the ramp from West 12th Street.
Drivers are also advised to use a different route if possible, with delays expected throughout each listed day.
