A brief stretch of scorching hot days and nights has sent residents of Erie, Pennsylvania, scrambling to find relief from the heat. Many have turned to Lowe’s on Peach Street, where air conditioning units have been flying off the shelves.
Ali Jebur, who was shopping with his family, described the unbearable heat. “Oh man, it’s so hot, it’s so hot I don’t know how to describe it. I just sit in my bed—I’m just soaking wet from all this sweat, man, it’s unbelievable. It feels like sitting inside an oven,” he said with a laugh.
The staff at Lowe’s has been working hard to help customers find ways to stay cool. According to Jen Albrewczynski, the Operations Assistant Store Manager at the Peach Street location, the demand for air conditioning units has been overwhelming. “Oh absolutely, we sold out a ton over the weekend. This is actually all we have left at the moment,” she said, pointing to a dwindling stack of units at the front of the store…
