Pennsylvania retiree hit $2.25M lottery jackpot, now his wife can retire too

MILLCREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WTAJ) — A retiree in Pennsylvania hit a multi-million dollar jackpot and said now his wife will be able to retire.

The Pennsylvania Lottery presented a commemorative check to Gary Winner of Erie County. Winner played Cash 5 Monday, June 9, winning the $2.25 million jackpot. The jackpot was split ($1,162,845) between him and another winner in Butler County who hasn’t claimed their ticket yet.

Winner told the lottery that he’s retired and works part-time at a golf shop. He said he’s played Cash 5 for a long time, but only when the jackpot is big. After seeing it over $2 million, he said he bought Quick Pick tickets, according to the lottery…
