Harkins, Merski Back Bill to ‘Propel PA Casinos into Modern Era’

State Reps. Pat Harkins and Bob Merski, both D-Erie, are applauding the Pennsylvania House Gaming Oversight Committee’s approval of legislation that would give casinos across the state, including Erie’s Presque Isle Downs & Casino, more flexibility to meet current market demands.

Senate Bill 840, which now heads to the full House for consideration, would reduce the required number of slot machines at Category 1 and Category 2 casinos from 1,500 to 1,000.

“Presque Isle Downs & Casino supports hundreds of local jobs and generates millions in tax revenue for our community,” said Harkins. “This bill modernizes outdated requirements and allows casinos to operate more efficiently based on customer demand, protecting both payrolls and local funding streams.”…
