The North East’s Firemen’s Cherry Festival is just days away, and workers were getting the ground ready for its start this Wednesday.
On Monday, dozens of people came to the fairgrounds behind the Crescent Hose Company on East Main Street.

One local firefighter said the festival is a great way to raise money for North East’s volunteer firefighters.
This time around, he said they’re looking to replace 40 “self-contained breathing apparatus,” which cost around $10,000 apiece.
