Florida man sentenced for burglary spree in five PA counties

(WJET/WFXP)– A Florida man convicted of spearheading several burglaries while posing as a utility crew at the homes of several elderly residents across western Pennsylvania has received his sentence.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that 57-year-old Steve Nichols of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was sentenced in Butler County Court to 2.5-20 years in state prison for being the driving force behind seven burglaries in five counties.

Nicols and his crew, which included his son, 39-year-old Archie Marino, burglarized seven homes of PA residents, mostly in their 80s, across Butler, Erie, Indiana, Lackawanna, and Westmoreland counties.

During the robberies, Nichols’ crew would pose as a utility company to get inside, then one of them would distract the homeowners while the rest would take their cash, jewelry and other valuables…
