PAL students train in cybersecurity, analysis at Mercyhurst University

A group of kids got an introduction to the world of cybersecurity and data analysis at a local college this week.

On Wednesday, students from the Police Athletic League (PAL) went to Mercyhurst University to check out their center for intelligence, research, analysis, and training.

The two-day program had Mercyhurst students guide the campers through real-life crime analysis scenarios.

The PAL program director said the cyber intelligence camp gives students another tool in their toolbelt if they’re thinking of getting into the police force.

Lieutenant Tom Lenox, executive director of PAL, said, “This program up here teaches the students the skillset that if you don’t want to work the front line as a police officer, or maybe an operator of sorts in the military, there are roles and responsibilities behind the scenes that are equally, if not more important.”…
