Stancliff Hose Company celebrates 100 years of its name

A local fire station is celebrating 100 years of having their name.

In 1925, a prominent family in Waterford named Stancliff donated the first motorized vehicle to the fire department.

After a unanimous vote, the department was renamed from Eagle Hose to the Stancliff Hose Company.

The assistant chief said that it’s an honor to be able to represent the name.

“I think any firefighter will tell you that, that they represent their community, and that we protect our community,” said Ryne Rutkowski, assistant chief of the Stancliff Hose Company. “But it’s also kind of neat to have the family name on it, and it’s not just ‘Friendship Hose’ or anything like that, that doesn’t have a good meaning behind it.”…
