Memorial golf scramble raises money for student-athletes

More than 140 golfers took part in a golf scramble remembering a local coach, educator and administrator.

The 12th annual Patrick J. DiPaolo Memorial Golf Classic took place on Friday at Lakeshore Country Club.

It served as a fundraiser for a memorial fund that gives scholarships to deserving student-athletes.

Loved ones said that it helps keep Patrick’s memory alive and work toward his dream of helping to further the education of as many kids as possible.

“Patrick was a teacher and a coach and administrator, so, his life was in education and being able to assist kids through those capacities,” said Michael Romeo, co-chairman of the classic. “It’s really nice that we can transition what he did then to what we can do now, which is to keep his memory alive, to be able to recognize these kids for being outstanding athletes, but students as well.”…
