The Community Blood Bank is holding a mobile drive at McKean Elementary School for six-year-old Alaina.

She was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in January, and the school’s PTA reached out to the blood bank to organize the drive.
Megan Solensky, community relations specialist for the blood bank, said that although a lot of their products go to trauma patients, they are vital for those with illnesses like cancer as well.

“They also go to people that have these ailments like cancer, like Alaina’s leukemia, where she needs to have these platelets and blood products after her chemotherapy,” Solensky said. “So, it is something that is very vital to cancer patients, and we collect blood on their behalf, and we’re really hoping that people will come out and help Alaina and all the other cancer patients in our region.”…
