Brick-wielding suspect allegedly tells trooper ‘shoot me’ during Mercer County chase, assault

DELAWARE TWP., Pa. – A Conneautville, Pennsylvania, man is jailed on a host of charges after a series of alleged thefts, a high-speed police pursuit, and an assault on a State Police Trooper, during which the suspect allegedly urged police to shoot him.

Michael A. Chase, 36, was arraigned Tuesday on 10 charges, including felony aggravated assault, felony receiving stolen property, and felony fleeing or attempting to elude an officer. He is being held at Mercer County Prison on $250,000 bail.

According to a criminal complaint, state police received a bulletin around 11:45 a.m. Monday for a stolen black Ford Escape from the Meadville area. The suspect was described as a white male with dark hair and a beard. A state police helicopter was called in to assist with the search…
