Prices at the gas pump have crept a few pennies higher over the last couple of weeks after a summer which saw the lowest average prices since the COVID-19 pandemic. According to AAA, Monday’s national average increased by a fraction of penny since last Monday and is now $3.20 per gallon, while New York State’s average rose by nearly nine cents to $3.26. In Chautauqua County, the average price decreased by a fraction of a cent and is currently $3.32. One year ago, the national and statewide averages were $3.27 and $3.43, respectively.
Despite the nearly nine-cent increase from last Monday, New York State’s average gas price is still well off from where it was a year ago. AAA adds that motorists continue to enjoy the benefits of low oil prices which are helping to keep gas prices down. As of Monday morning, oil is trading in the $63-66 range per barrel…
