Demand for gasoline is going down as motorists settle into their fall routines, and prices at the pump are expected to follow suit. That’s according to AAA, which reports that Monday’s national average price is $3.18 per gallon, a decrease of just over two cents from a week ago. New York State saw its average drop by one cent to $3.25, and Chautauqua County’s average remains unchanged at $3.32. One year ago, the national and statewide averages were $3.21 and $3.37, respectively.
AAA says there remains an abundance of crude oil supply which is outweighing demand. The seasonal transition to winter-blend gasoline — which is cheaper to produce — is also beginning. As of Monday morning, oil is trading in the $62-68 range per barrel…
