On Wednesday, Erie County announced it’s looking for qualified providers to set up a program to help the area’s homeless population.
The county said it’s fielding proposals to create a daytime drop-in program within the Community Resiliency Center that would give people experiencing homelessness a safe space to rest and explore referrals to supportive services.

County Executive Brenton Davis said that when people are in survival mode that it is hard for them to focus on things beyond their next meal or keeping warm.
“We’re addressing this head-on. So my administration is the first of its kind to one, partner with organizations. To turn the Community Resilience Center, which was once a work release, a prison work release building, and we sent that in to a center for addressing homelessness. Partnering with Yuma and Our Neighbors Place. We’re able to fund these initiatives at no cost to the taxpayer,” said Davis.
