Woman rescued from October east Erie house fire dies

(WJET/WFXP)– The woman rescued from a house fire in the City of Erie last month has died after receiving care for several weeks in Pittsburgh, according to Chief Fire Investigator Donald Sauer.

That fire happened on October 24 in the 900 block of East 9th Street just after 10 am, with the victim getting trapped inside the home as flames spread.

First responders quickly extinguish house fire on Erie’s east side

Sauer said the victim, identified as 69-year-old Mitzie Weber, was found towards the back of the house before she was taken to UPMC Hamot for treatment and was later flown to UPMC Mercy for treatment.

Sauer was notified by the Allegheny County Coroner’s Office that Weber died from her injuries on November 5…
