A local senior center is shutting its doors at the end of the year, marking an end to a decades-old service in downtown Erie.
GECAC’s R. B. Wiley Senior Center on Peach Street will be closing down on December 23.

The organization’s director of senior centers said funding and attendance issues led to the closure.
She said state and local funding haven’t been consistent with their needs, and the center’s location and hassle with parking have led to low attendance.
