Axolotl dies after being found in Walnut Creek

A very unusual animal was found in Walnut Creek this past week.

Local aquarium and pet shop Buzz n’ B’s received a call that someone found an axolotl swimming around.

According to Caden Richards, the associate of aquatics at Buzz n’ B’s, this animal is native to the underground lakes and rivers in Mexico, which means someone dumped her outside in local waters.

The salamander was brought in with a fungal infection, and after being medicated and quarantined, she unfortunately died overnight.
