Four cats found abandoned on Presque Isle Monday

(WJET/WFXP)– A local animal rescue group is asking the public for their help after four cats, two of which are heavily pregnant, were found in a crate at Presque Isle State Park on Monday morning.

Companion Animal Coalition (CAC) said they were called by park rangers around 8 am Monday for the cats that were abandoned near a bike path sometime overnight, with the pregnant cats described as “ready to pop.”

CAC said all four were terrified and suffering from flea infestations among the worst rescuers had seen, leaving them covered in scabs and in pain.

An animal cruelty case has been opened into their abandonment while rescuers look for a place to get them vetted and treated further. All four are now described as safe and warm.

No cameras were in the area where the cats were found and anyone with information is asked to contact them by phone at 814-580-8380 or by email at [email protected]. Tips can be anonymous…
