In honor of the upcoming month of awareness, Hamot Health Foundation and UPMC Health Plan Neighborhood Center are providing free cancer screenings for local firefighters who are at a higher risk of developing cancers compared to the general public.
The President of the International Association of Firefighters Local 293, Gregory Wells, was there today and he expressed to us how cancer has effected him on a personal level, “We’ve seen it firsthand; we’ve seen our members and their families impacted directly, actives and retirees, unfortunately we’ve experienced a couple of recent line of duty deaths, that were specific to cancer.”…
