Students at the Eagle’s Nest School of Academic Division were invited to hear some powerful words of wisdom on Thursday.
Henry Louis Gates Jr., the American literary critic and speaker, spoke to seventh and eighth graders about their roots and why it’s important to learn from them.

Archbishop Dwane Brock is the COO of the Eagle’s Nest Leadership Corporation. He said it’s important for kids to learn their roots early so they can expand their perspective of life.
“But yet you have to exercise your intellect, your brain, your mind, and that’s what we’re doing here today. So it’s really an exciting time,” said Brock.
