42 Years Later, Investigators Still Trying to Solve ‘Ellery Jane Doe’ Murder Case

Today marks the 42nd anniversary of the discovery of a female homicide victim along Route 17 in the Town of Ellery. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says the identity of the victim, who was fatally shot, still remains undetermined to this day. In a Facebook post, the Sheriff’s Office stated that advanced forensic work of the DNA and fingerprints of the victim known as “Ellery Jane Doe” has not led to her identification. The department adds that if this unsolved case gets cracked, it will most likely be the result of someone who knew the victim or her family, or who knows who murdered her.
