Erie man sentenced to life in prison for 2023 homicide

The Erie man convicted earlier this year of a March 2023 homicide will spend the rest of his life in prison.

According to court documents, 31-year-old Torrance Norris was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of fatally shooting 21-year-old Naim Bayete in the head.

Weekend fatal shooting suspect arrested

Norris was convicted by an Erie County jury in October of felony first-degree murder, aggravated assault, illegally carrying a firearm and misdemeanor tampering with evidence.

The jury took just over an hour to vote to convict Norris after the week-long trial.
