Wegmans campaign raises over $3M to fight food insecurity, Erie raises over $80k

A local grocery chain has raised a considerable amount of money this fall to help combat food insecurity.

Wegmans Food Markets received nearly $3.1 million in donations during its Check Out Hunger campaign, which ran from Oct. 22 to Nov. 29. This is $570,000 more than Wegmans raised during 2024’s campaign.

Customers could give any amount of money to the campaign when they checked out, including amounts as low as $1. The donations went to Feeding America food banks near each store.

In Erie, $83,418 was donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania.
