Dunkirk interested in developing nuclear power plant

DUNKIRK, N.Y. — Local and state leaders are weighing in on the possibility of a nuclear power facility in Dunkirk following interest tied to the New York Power Authority’s recent request for proposals.

A representative from the Chautauqua County Executive’s Office says County Executive P.J. Wendel is expected to comment publicly on the announcement next week. When NYPA first released its request for proposals in October, Wendel expressed optimism about the idea of a nuclear facility in Dunkirk.
