The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has temporarily reduced speed limits to 45 mph on several interstates in the northwest region due to hazardous winter weather conditions. Motorists are urged to avoid unnecessary travel.
Affected Highways:
- I-79 from the I-80 interchange to the end of I-79 in Erie County
- I-86 from the I-90 interchange to the New York state line
- I-90 from the Ohio state line to the New York state line
Vehicle Restrictions:
Tier 1 restrictions remain in effect on I-86 and I-90 in Erie County. Prohibited vehicles include:
- Tractors without trailers
- Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded trailers
- Box trucks meeting CMV definitions
- Passenger vehicles towing trailers
- RVs, school buses, commercial buses, motorcycles
