Lake effect snow and wind gusts leave thousands without power, disrupt travel

A winter storm on Monday brought high winds and snow, resulting in significant power outages for businesses and residents. Wind gusts reached up to 60 mph, complicating travel and disrupting holiday plans for many.

The winter storm resulted in several inches of lake-effect snow and high winds that affected thousands of individuals in the area. Many businesses, including Splash Lagoon and nearby hotels, experienced power outages that forced visitors to return home.

Mike Hall, a snow plow operator with MH Services, noted the severe conditions, stating, “I’m out here snow plowing. We’re doing all of our businesses that are open. There’s a lot of snow and wind. We have to keep everybody cleaned up. The roads are horrible… horrible.”…
