(WKBN) – A number of Pennsylvania roads were closed Monday due to flooding, crashes and downed trees, and speed restrictions have also been put in place, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).
Locally, in Mercer County, Summit Road (Route 4001) was temporarily closed Monday from the intersection with Vernon Road to the intersection with Woods Road in West Salem Township for flooding, but has since reopened.
While PennDOT urges motorists to avoid travel if possible, those who have to hit the road may be met with speed restrictions. The speed limit has been lowered to 45 mph on the following routes:
- Interstate 79 from Exit 141 (Route 285, Geneva/Cochranton) to the end point in Erie County
- Interstate 90 from the Ohio state line to the I-79 interchange in Erie County
A speed restriction of 55 mph is in place on Interstate 80 eastbound from Exit 42(Route 38, Emlenton) in Venango County to Exit 147 (Route 144, Snow Shoe) in Centre County…
