Lake effect snow warning extended for Erie Co., winter weather advisories issued

The National Weather Service has extended the lake effect snow warning for Erie, PA until 4 PM Friday. Additional snowfall amounts between 4 and 8 inches are expected now through Friday afternoon. The higher amounts could fall just east of the Erie lakeshore.

A winter weather advisory is also in effect for Crawford and Warren Counties until 4 pm Friday. Additional snowfall amounts between 2 and 5 inches are possible now through Friday afternoon. The highest amounts can be found in the northern fringes of each county.

And finally, a winter storm warning is still in effect for Chautauqua County until 10 PM Friday. Additional snow accumulations between 8 and 14 inches could fall in the county. The heaviest lake-effect snow will likely fall in areas adjacent to I-90.

Be prepared for rapid changes in weather. The Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes could be very difficult to drive in due to heavy snow squalls and snow-covered roads. Take your time and reduce your speed if you must drive Thursday and Friday…
