County Executive Paul M. Wendel Jr. has spent the last six months calling state and federal law enforcement to investigate the continuous high gasoline prices within Chautauqua County, now he is continuing his commitment to find the answers and ensuring that the residents are advocate for.
Even though Chautauqua County has a lower sales tax on gasoline than Erie County, the residents still continue to pay more for gas than any surrounding regions. The County Executive has continuously reached out New York State Attorney General Letitia James and both current and former U.S. Attorneys for the Western District of New York for a review of the motor fuel pricing within the County.
According to the Attorney General’s Office there has been no illegal activity occurring so there is no reason to continue with an investigation. The U.S. Attorney’s Office has not given a response as of yet…
