Two men convicted of charges in 2025 change jar robbery at Erie home

Two Erie men accused of confronting a man and robbing him of a change jar at a city residence in January 2025 were convicted at trial Jan. 9.

Richard L. Barnett Jr., 34, was found guilty of all charges, including felony robbery and burglary, at the conclusion of the weeklong trial before Erie County Judge David Ridge. Jamee T. Husband, 30, was convicted of charges including felony counts of burglary and a first-degree felony count of robbery, but was found not guilty of a third-degree felony count of robbery.

Barnett and Husband are scheduled to be sentenced March 5.

What were they accused of?

Erie police charged Barnett, Husband and Issac S. Moffett in a reported robbery Jan. 17, 2025, at a residence in the 600 block of Ohio Street. According to police, the victim told them he returned home after celebrating his birthday and was confronted by three men wearing masks and dark clothing who forced him into the residence. The man said he was punched in the face and robbed of a change jar containing about $200, according to information in criminal complaints filed in the case…
