(WJET/WFXP)– It may be a new year, but the ANNA Shelter’s mission has not changed, having recently rescued a dozen animals from a regional home that were living in what they called filthy conditions.
The ANNA Shelter said the 12 animals were rescued last week and had been left to fend for themselves for a very, very long time in outdoor living spaces with mats in their fur full of feces, mud and urine, with overgrown nails that made moving around nearly impossible and extremely painful.

Of those 12, nine were dogs, two were cats and a goat that had a broken leg, while one of the dogs was left tethered to a pole all by themselves.
The shelter said all 12 are now receiving the care they need, even posting a follow-up showing just how much fur came off them and that Walter the goat is on his way out of town to get his broken leg healed.
They also said they’ve been promised the former owners will be brought to justice, with prohibition of ownership being one of the stipulations of their sentencing as part of the prosecution against them…
