Small businesses in N.Y. finding resources with development centers

Lee Cain has owned and operated Phatties restaurant just outside of Jamestown, in Chautauqua County, since last August, after extensive renovations inside and out.

Cain says after a strong start, a long road project, slower foot traffic and the recent government shutdown forced him to cut back his hours, only open for breakfast and lunch, after serving about 10 people a day.

“And that’s just not really a great model to run your business on, especially since this is a perishable business. So, even if the food isn’t being sold, I still have to keep it in stock,” said Cain…
