Annual Blessing of the Bayfront and Presque Isle Waters

Religious leaders braved the blowing winds and frigid temperatures to bless the waters of Presque Isle and the bayfront on Saturday afternoon.

Members of the Orthodox churches of the area have spent the last nine years coming out to bless the waters of Presque Isle and the bay.

This is part of their celebration of the Feast of Theophany, which is the celebration of Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan River. Faith leaders said they use this event as a way to ask the holy spirit to bless the waters and the city…
