Erie police seek help on cold missing person case on Nation Missing Persons Day

National Missing Persons Day is observed each year on February 3 to raise awareness for missing persons cases in the U.S. This day serves as a reminder of those who have gone missing and encourages the community to give tips that can help solve their cases.

Here in Erie, there are 10 missing persons cases that have gone cold, some for as long as several decades.

Sabrina Kahler, 20, went missing in June of 2002 and her case has since gone cold. She went for a swim with a friend and was never seen again. Unfortunately, her story is all too common; according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, as many as 600,000 people are reported missing in the U.S. each year.

“As soon as you believe that a friend, relative, loved one is in danger, we want you to call down to the police department, you know, we’ll go to their house and we’ll check on their status,” Erie Chief of Police Rick Lorah said, explaining the importance of looping the police in immediately…
