Speed limits restored on NWPA interstates Friday

UPDATE 3:37 pm: PennDOT has restored the speed limits and lifted right lane only commercial vehicle restrictions on all NWPA interstates.

(WJET/WFXP)– PennDOT has lowered speed limits and said commercial vehicles must be in the right lane on Erie County’s interstates, along with Interstate 80.

PennDOT is urging drivers to avoid any unnecessary travel and reduced speed limits have been lowered to 45 mph on the following interstates:

  • Interstate 79 from Exit 113 (Route 208, Grove City) in Mercer County to the ending point in Erie County.
  • Interstate 80 from the Ohio state line to Exit 42 (Route 38, Emlenton) in Venango County.
  • Interstate 86 from the New York state line to the Interstate 90 interchange in Erie County.
  • Interstate 90 from the New York state line to the Ohio state line.

Crews will be plowing as winter weather continues in the area but PennDOT said their goal is to keep roads passable and that they will not be completely free of ice. You can get up-to-the-minute updates on local interstates on 511PA…
