Infinite Erie has praised Governor Shapiro alongside his team for the release of the Housing Action Plan for 2026. This plan outlines a $1 billion proposed funding and the new Deputy Secretary of Housing position.
“This plan and proposed $1 billion in critical infrastructure funding is a positive step forward for Pennsylvania, and a real opportunity for Erie to compete,” said Kim Thomas, Executive Director, Infinite Erie. “Infinite Erie’s Housing Accelerator Plan, which will be released next week, positions Erie well as we take on a persistent housing crisis and work toward ending street homelessness in Erie.”
The stated Playbook goals include:
- Goal 1: Supportive Housing which will build 50 units for the homeless
- Goal 2: Affordable Housing 100 new units in core Erie neighborhoods, with 25 units dedicated to first-time minority homeowners
- Goal 3: Workforce Housing 100 new units to bring Erie’s workforce to
- core neighborhoods
