The National Weather Service issued a report at 4:26 a.m. on Thursday for black ice until 9 a.m. for Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties.
“Following recent freezing rain, and earlier runoff from snowmelt, surfaces have become icy including parking lots, driveways and sidewalks. Be careful for outdoor slippery spots this morning. If driving, untreated roads, bridges and overpasses may contain slick spots, and motorists need to remain aware for rapidly changing driving conditions. Temperatures will rise above freezing mid-morning diminishing the black ice threat,” says the weather service.
