On Feb. 13, Cathedral Prep’s faculty stepped away from their usual routines and made their way to Gannon University for a day dedicated to reflection, mindfulness, and renewal. The retreat, led by Dr. Tim Hogan, offered faculty an opportunity to pause amidst their hectic schedules and reflect deeply on their purpose as educators.
Throughout the day, Dr. Hogan guided them through a series of meditation exercises and thought-provoking discussions centered around their personal well-being and the various challenges that accompany teaching. Many said that the retreat provided them with a much-needed chance to slow down and reflect on why they chose to teach in the first place. English teacher Mrs. Vomero described her experience as “a meaningful opportunity to practice meditation, reflect on my purpose as an educator, remind myself to show grace, and remind myself not to be so hard on myself.”
The retreat was not solely focused on quiet reflection, though; it also fostered engaging group conversations that delved into building stronger relationships with students, supporting one another as colleagues, and managing the most demanding parts of the school year.
