Chautauqua County water team pulls 2 people to safety following Brocton ice fall

FREDONIA, N.Y. — Two people who had fallen through the ice Saturday morning were rescued and brought to safety.

The Fredonia Fire Department, through a post to Facebook, says captain Dan Aldrich and others helped save lives. It happened after the Chautauqua County Water Emergency Team was called to Brocton, following the report of two people who fell through the ice.

“Cold water and ice rescues are among the most dangerous and technically demanding incidents responders face. They require constant training, specialized equipment, and calm, decisive leadership. Today’s outcome is a direct reflection of that preparation and skill,” the fire department said…
