Robber hit Erie bank after two Pittsburgh heists. He’s sentenced again

Vaughn D. Carter, a serial bank robber, has been in and out of prison since he was 21 and has struggled with substance abuse for much of that time.

The 62-year-old is getting incarcerated once more.

Carter has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison and three years of supervised release for holding up the downtown PNC Bank branch in Erie in 2023 after robbing a bank in Pittsburgh in 2002 and 2018. He said he was addicted to opiate prescription painkillers during the Erie heist…
