Paul Miller’s Law – penalty for distracted driving to increase in June

Paul Miller’s Law was passed in June 2026 – named after a young man who was tragically killed by a tractor trailer when a distracted driver reached for their phone.

The law makes it illegal to use a hand-held phone while driving, and for nine months, law enforcement across the Commonwealth has been writing warnings for violators.

“We’ve written hundreds of warnings. For the most part word is getting out, but there is some people that use their cell phones, but we’re stopping them now in the warning phase to educate them on Paul Miller’s Law,” said Corporal Matt Shollenberger, Traffic Officer with Millcreek Police Department…
