Search for Missing Lakewood Man to Resume Today

Dive teams will return to Chautauqua Lake on Wednesday to resume searching for a missing Lakewood man whose truck was pulled from the lake late last week. During a Lakewood Village Board meeting on Monday, Lakewood-Busti Police Chief Matthew Bentley said that 64-year-old Daniel Emerson — who has been missing since March 3rd — was not in the vehicle when it was recovered. He noted that the window was rolled down on the rear driver’s side. Bentley says his department believes that Emerson tried to escape from his vehicle, but wasn’t able to safely make it to the surface. The truck was found near the I-86 bridge on March 16th, and divers were finally able to get it to the surface last Friday.
