Benedictine for Peace Sister Marlene Bertke’s social activism comes to end

If you ever walked with the Benedictine Sisters of Erie on a Good Friday Peace Pilgrimage or attended a Take Back the Site vigil, you owe the experience to Sister Marlene Bertke.

Bertke was a co-founder of Benedictines for Peace and its coordinator when the vigils began in 1999. She helped start the annual pilgrimage in 1980.
