Work restarts to improve Peninsula Drive

(WJET/WFXP)– After a long winter break, work to fix up Route 832 (Peninsula Drive) from West 12th Street to the entrance of Presque Isle State Park and the surrounding area started again on Wednesday.

PennDOT said that while most of the work on the $6.3 million project was done last year, crews will be installing ADA-compliant curb ramps, line and marker painting from West 26th Street (Route 20) to Presque Isle.

Crews will also be installing upgrades to the traffic signals at the intersections of Peninsula Drive and Sixth Street, Eighth Street, and 23rd Street, along with refacing the retaining walls and replacing the speed bumps outside Sara’s Restaurant.

During that time, PennDOT said drivers could see lane restrictions and traffic controlled by flaggers during active work hours and should expect delays.
