Walnut Creek students donate blood in honor of Erie baby

The Community Blood Bank visited the Walnut Creek Middle School for what they call a heart-to-heart blood drive.

Baby Arty was born prematurely and needed over 50 blood transfusions to survive.

His aunt and the principal of Walnut Creek Middle School said that while the school hosts a blood drive each year, their family thought it was a good idea to use baby Arty’s story to encourage more donations and save more lives

“When something really bad happens, all you can do is try to make something good out of it, and our family has tried to do a couple different things to give back to the community wherever we can,” said Kimberly Damecott, baby Arty’s aunty & school principal.
