Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies who shot and killed an armed man last June will not face charges, according to the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
The AG’s Office of Special Investigation on Friday cleared those deputies of any wrongdoing in the death of Mark Bemis.
A report shows deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at Bemis’s home on Mina French Creek Road on June 18, 2025. When deputies arrived, officials say Bemis was armed with a shotgun and fired it into the air.
