North East man sentenced for neglecting three children in 2025 incident

(WJET/WFXP)– The North East man charged alongside his then girlfriend in a child neglect case uncovered after one of the children got out of the house and wandered the borough naked has received his sentence.

According to Assistant Erie County District Attorney Shane Kaliszewski, Samuel Bartlebaugh, 23, was sentenced on Monday to 11.5 to 23 months in prison, then four years of supervised release for his role by Judge John Mead after pleading guilty in February as part of a plea deal that recommended the same sentence.

Bartlebaugh was charged alongside his girlfriend and the mother of the three children, 31-year-old Elizabeth Pohl of Erie, after the oldest of the three children was found wandering around Loomis Street in North East Borough completely naked and covered in filth.
